Chapter 3: Grandma Mimsy

~10 years old

40 lb

Female

Tiny lab/ cattle dog mix

Black

Adoption Fee: $250

Meet Mimsy, The Vintage Dog's third little old lady!

Mimsy is a sweet, gentle senior cattle dog mix with a whole new chapter waiting to be written. After spending her entire life outdoors, including the last two years with very little human interaction, this special little lady is finally discovering what it means to be loved and included in a family.

Despite her past, Mimsy has the sweetest soul! She's a little cautious with new experiences and can be slightly head shy, but underneath that uncertainty is a happy, wiggly girl with so much love to give. Every day, she's growing more confident and learning that the world has some pretty wonderful things to offer. Did we mention she's a huge cuddle bug?!

And don't let her age fool you! This 40-pound granny has fantastic mobility, plenty of pep in her step, and an absolute love for long walks. She's always happy to head out for an adventure and would make a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys spending time outdoors or needs an excuse to keep moving! When the exploring is done, she's just as happy to settle in for a cozy nap.

Mimsy has been adjusting beautifully to life outside of a kennel, making friends with other dogs, peacefully coexisting with cats, and discovering all the little comforts of home.

Her ideal family will be patient, gentle, and willing to continue building her confidence through positive reinforcement. We think she would be happiest in a home with older children or no children. While she gets along wonderfully with other respectful dogs, we think she would absolutely thrive as someone's one and only. After a lifetime of sharing the sidelines, she might just love having all the attention to herself! Either way, this little lady will be happy to have you.

Mimsy doesn't ask for much. A soft place to sleep, long walks to look forward to, a little patience as she continues to blossom, and someone who will love her through all the chapters still to come.

Mimsy is ready for her happily ever after. Could it be with you?

Chapter 2: Grandma Frazzle

Available soon!

~14 years old

6 lb

Female

Terrier mix

Black/ Grey

Adoption Fee: $250

Meet Frazzle, our second Vintage Dog!

At approximately 14 years young, Frazzle has already lived quite a story. This sweet little lady was found as a stray in California and brought to an overcrowded shelter in pretty rough shape. Covered in fleas, suffering from severely infected eyes, and in need of significant medical care, Frazzle was deemed unadoptable and placed on a medical euthanasia list.

But her story wasn't over.

The Vintage Dog stepped in, and Frazzle traded her uncertain future for a fresh start in Colorado!

Frazzle is now settling into foster care, where she's receiving the love and care she needs. Her eyes, skin and ears are doing so much better and she is turning into a new dog with the goofiest personality! She even got a fresh new glow up!

She still has two important procedures ahead of her: a much-needed dental surgery with extractions and a spay.

We're currently fundraising to cover these veterinary expenses and help Frazzle enter her next chapter happy, healthy, and comfortable. Every donation, no matter the size, helps us get her one step closer.

Frazzle will be ready for adoption once she has recovered from her spay and dental surgery! Fill out an adoption application if you are interested in meeting this lil lady!

Chapter 1: Grandma Midge

ADOPTED!

~13 years old

3.5lb

Female

Chihuahua

Tan/White

Adoption Fee: $250

Meet Midge!

Midge is tiny, toothless, ancient, completely perfect grandma and a MAJOR foodie!

At just a few pounds, Midge was our very first Vintage Dog!  She came to us from a shelter who deemed her unadoptable, painfully thin and with a little body that tells the story of a very long hard life.

She is a true little old lady. Her favorite activities include burrowing under blankets, curling up in a cozy bed, sitting in a warm lap, and receiving gentle neck scratches.  Midge has earned the slow life and a permanent spot on your lap, and she fully intends to enjoy it.

Midge had her last two teeth removed and also has some bone loss in her lower jaw from years of untreated dental disease. This has left her with her very distinctive look:  like her tongue will never fit into her mouth! She has some wobbly old-lady legs, but she still gets herself where she wants to go — especially when it's meal time, or someone offers her a comfortable place to nap waiting for her.

She is sweet, gentle, and incredibly endearing. There’s something about Midge that makes you want to scoop her up, tuck her into a blanket, and make sure nothing bad ever happens to her again.

Midge isn't looking for adventures or a busy life. She's looking for someone who appreciates an ancient little dog exactly as she is: toothless, wonky, sleepy, and happiest tucked beside her person. Just know, as she cuddles up next to you, she WILL be eying that hamburger you're about to eat!

Her first chapter with us started as The Vintage Dog's very first rescue. Midge is now living her best life with her new mom! Keep an eye on our social media for Midge updates.

Chapter 4: Grandma Whimsy

~12+ years old

40 lb

Female

Collie/Shepherd

Sable/White

Whimsy is a sweet senior lady who spent years surviving on the streets of Texas before finding her way to The Vintage Dog. After everything she's been through, we've decided that her days of searching for a home are officially over.

As a permanent sanctuary resident, Whimsy will spend the rest of her life surrounded by familiar faces, cozy beds, gentle adventures, and the comfort of knowing she's home to stay. With her advanced age and mobility challenges, our focus is on keeping Whimsy comfortable, happy, and enjoying life at her own pace.

She has a gentle spirit and is learning to appreciate all the little things that come with being part of a family. Whether her story has many pages left or just a few, we're committed to making every one of them count.

Whimsy will remain in our care for life, and donations toward her ongoing veterinary care, nutrition, and daily needs help us give this special old lady the retirement she deserves.
